  • Avira Ultimate Protection Suite

Posted on 24/08/2015 by | Comments Off on Avira Ultimate Protection Suite

Security in computer and over internet connections are a major concern in present days. With more available resources to get connected to the vast network, there have been more exposed threats to a computer or person than any time ever before. Hence, a security software is required on computers and even on the handheld devices. Many latest security software comes in three basic editions where the basic edition offers a standalone antivirus, one version for handheld devices and another one sort of all-in-one suite where every core modules are attached. Avira Ultimate Protection Suite is that all-in-one pack, but no firewall or spam filter comes built in.

    Pricing Comparison

Avira Ultimate Protection Suite combines all the basic modules a security suite may need except the firewall, and priced only $139.99 for the bundle. Depending on the licensing, the price may begin from $89.99. Comparing with other programs, Avira Ultimate Protection Suite costs slightly higher. For example, the BitDefender Total Security Suite is priced $69.95 for standard one PC license while the same on Avira costs $89.99. There isn’t a firewall or spam filter, either. However, judging the accuracy we would still say the higher price with Avira is justified.

    Internet Security

Even though there’s no firewall built in, still the Ultimate Protection Suite works pretty well at scanning files that are coming to the user’s computer through internet and an in-depth scan for malwares is active in the background as well. The files would be scanned if any malicious activity is detected and the files would later be flagged, with a warning to the user. The internet security on the Avira Ultimate Protection Suite is still very basic, there are lacking some features like social network protection, password vault, and untraceable virtual keyboard, backup and restore features and a firewall. However, to ensure the deleted files have been deleted permanently a file shredder is included within the bundle.

Why is it still a topper?

A question is naturally supposed to arise – even though a whole lot of features are absent, how could the Avira be very popular. The performance in detecting and deleting virus off a computer is outstanding; proven through various different independent AV-tests. Avira Ultimate Protection Suite had to go through nearly two dozens of individual tests and the scores were highest in class.

On the other hand, the accuracy has been proven to be very high. Unlike many other antivirus software, this one hadn’t gone through any hit-and-miss case. If Avira detected a file as infected, the file was truly infected. The modules are mostly online in background, yet no significant slowing down was notified. For example, while most other AV programs in the industry slows down the computer by three seconds on average, it’s only around one second on average for Avira Ultimate Protection Suite. A finalized accuracy rate of 98% has been achieved through various test results; placing this suite one among the top 10 list of 2015.

    Verdict

For the pricing, Avira Ultimate Protection Suite couldn’t be a wrong pick. However, for people who need features like firewall, parental controls and spam filter – should choose a different program.

Microsoft has unveiled its new tablet recently, Microsoft Surface Pro 2 which is a timely update of a very capable device that bridges the gap between tablet and laptop. The Surface Pro 2’s design is solid and classy as is the build quality. The kick stand on the back has two positions rather than just one which makes it attractive and easier to use on your lap. The Surface Pro 2 is an improvement on the original model, especially in the much-needed area of battery life. It’s worth noting that Surface Pro 2 buyers get one year of unlimited Skype calls to landlines in over 60 countries, and free Wi-Fi at Skype hotspots worldwide. Display

The Surface Pro 2’s 10.6-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) ClearType Full HD touch screen boasts vivid colors and generous viewing angles. However, it has been tweaked to deliver better color accuracy and is certainly one of the Pro 2’s better features — bright and crisp, with good viewing angles in both horizontal and vertical planes.

    Processor

Microsoft Surface Pro 2 tablet is powered by Intel’s latest Haswell Core i5 processor, which has plenty of benefits. It boots up quickly and it had no trouble doing anything including a spot of HD gaming.

    Camera
