As its becoming inevitable to think world without PCs, it’s inevitable to think PCs without antivirus. In run for chasing customers and stay in the market, companies keep on introducing new features and additions to prove superiority one over other. Among all this McAfee is present with its new version McAfee Antivirus 2014.

These days Antivirus doesn’t only mean antivirus but it comes with a complete package of utility services. This package of McAfee is available at rate of 49.99$, but using the promo codes mentioned here, you can get even at 50% discount.

Display: UI as always is larger in display but it fails to be user friendly when it comes to be used by common lay man. Colored representation of problem that if green, everything is Ok and red then there is serious problem is easy to understand. From the display it’s not clear from where to start scanning of PC. You have to enter “virus and spyware” option and then initiate scan. Same way for settings, you have to be aware of technical aspects like you want to go for “Web and email protection” then you should technically know that it falls under Firewall section. So too many options to reach one tab so it becomes difficult for home users to work it out without technical assistance.

Compatibility: We can say that they predicted the situation well ahead then time and made it compatible with touch screen and windows 8.  So it can be installed in windows 8 touch devices. It provides two way firewall which is an additional feature.

Additional Features: It comes with additional features such as McAfee Vulnerability Scanner, McAfee Quick Clean, and McAfee Shredder.

McAfee Vulnerability Scanner: It finds the issues in IE and provides user with recommendations.

McAfee Quick Clean: It cleans unused files in the system thus releasing disk space.

McAfee Shredder: It happens that even if you delete any file its still in the system. This is the reason you can recover deleted files but with McAfee shredder you can shred away important documents which you wanted to delete and it can’t be recovered.

McAfee Performance: Instead of 28 minutes scanning time for 128 GB with 2013 version it took 24 minutes which is quite appreciable. Quick Scan took less than 3 minutes. In quick scan it basically looks in sectors which are most likely to be infected. So less time with low memory consumption is USP of McAfee this time. Instead of directly looking for virus it’s even analyzing behavioral aspects of performance and detects prior to detection in virus signature database.

Conclusion: Overall a good product which is compatible with touch screen windows 8 but could be great UI if introduced with easy UI display. Price range is acceptable with such additional features.
